What Is IMMUNOLOGY2022™?
The largest annual immunology event worldwide, the AAI annual meeting is where leading researchers come to learn the latest in their field. With major lectures from some of the world’s most prominent immunologists, and podium and poster presentations of abstracts, IMMUNOLOGY2022™ will feature cutting-edge developments from scientists at every career stage.

Registering on-site can be done with the following guidelines:
- Registration must be done remotely (e.g., online from your hotel room).
- Requests for proof of vaccination verification will be accepted during specified hours when immediate verification is available. The hours will be posted on our Abstract page once finalized.
- If attendees can’t provide proof of vaccination, they will not be able to check in.

How will registration check-in be done?
- Proof of Vaccination (POV) verification
- For the Health and Safety of all IMMUNOLOGY2022™ attendees, prior to entering the Oregon Convention Center (OCC), POV verification will be required. Once confirmed, attendees will be provided with a water-resistant wristband to be worn throughout the meeting. If the wristband is somehow lost or removed, the attendee will be required to go through the verification process again.
- How do I get my POV verified?
- OPTION 1:
Most of the AAI hotels (Courtyard Portland Downtown, Crowne Plaza Downtown, DoubleTree by Hilton, The Hilton Downtown, and Hyatt Regency Portland) will have a manned desk for IMMUNOLOGY2022™ attendees’ POV verification to be confirmed. These desks will be open the following hours:

There will be manned tables outside the MLK entrance of the OCC. If you haven’t been through the verification process at a hotel, you will be required to be checked here.

- What is the verification process?
Staff will ask to see validation text message from HealthShield and official government-issued photo ID. Staff will confirm the name on the text verification with the name on ID, and that the photo on the ID matches the individual presenting the ID. If all is correct, staff will place a wristband on the confirmed attendee’s wrist. - What happens once I have my wristband?
You may enter the OCC and check at the IMMUNOLOGY2022™ Registration Desk and finalize your registration, receive a meeting badge and materials, and attend the meeting.
What are the registration fees?

What does the registration fee cover?
Your registration fee covers the entrance to scientific sessions, posters, and exhibits, admission to the Welcome Back Reception, and one copy of the IMMUNOLOGY2022™ Meeting Guide, which includes a detailed, pull-out Program-at-a-Glance. You may purchase an Abstract Book, a Scientific Program Book, and various event tickets (including Career Roundtables and IMMUNOLOGY2022™ Gala tickets) when registering.
PLEASE NOTE: Your AAI Membership must be paid in full through 01/01/2023 to be eligible for the Member Rate. Will I receive confirmation of my registration?
After you register, an immediate email confirmation will be sent to the email address you provided.
Will I be refunded if I have to cancel my registration?
Yes, with the exception of a $100 non-refundable processing fee, which will be deducted from all refunds issued for registration cancellations received by April 6, 2022. Refund requests must be submitted in writing, include the registrant’s confirmation number, and be received by 11:59 PM (ET) on April 6, 2022.
No refunds will be issued after April 6, 2022. Please email your cancellation request to meetings@aai.org.
What if AAI cancels the meeting once I have registered?
In the event the conference is canceled, the full registration will be refunded to each registrant. Travel or housing reservation cancellations are the responsibility of the attendee.
If my plans change and I am unable to attend, can I transfer my registration to someone else?
Yes. If you are a member and they are not, the difference in the registration fees must be paid before the transfer is complete. If you are NOT a member and they are, we are unable to issue a refund of the difference in registration fees. To transfer a registration, please email meetings@aai.org.
I’m a high school student or high school teacher, how do I register?
High school teachers and high school students (age 13 and older) are invited to attend the meeting. To register in advance, please contact meetings@aai.org. To register on-site, please bring a teacher/student ID card or a letter signed by your department head, research advisors, principal, or teacher. We request that high school students always be accompanied by a registered adult. Appropriate behavior by all students is required.
I’m a graduate student. How do I register?
Graduate student members may register at any time and are eligible for a significantly reduced registration fee. Graduate student nonmembers may preregister by contacting meetings@aai.org and providing a current student ID.
Please note: Hospital residents, interns, and senior laboratory technicians do not qualify as students and must pay the full member/nonmember registration rate.
I’m an employee at NIH or with the federal government, but haven’t received approval to attend. What can I do?
Employees of the federal government who have applied to their agencies for approval to attend IMMUNOLOGY2022™ but have not received approval by the early registration deadline should contact meetings@aai.org for assistance. Please include in your email your full name, registration category (member, nonmember, or student), agency/institute, and the date of your approval request.
I’m a postdoctoral trainee. How do I register?
Postdoctoral trainee members may register at any time and are eligible for a significantly reduced registration fee. Postdoctoral trainee nonmembers may preregister by contacting meetings@aai.org and providing their advisor’s name and email address.
I’m a member of the press. How do I register?
AAI offers complimentary press badges to pre-approved members of the working press with appropriate press credentials and to freelance writers bearing a letter of assignment (on the publication’s official letterhead) from an editor.
Approved press badge holders are required to provide AAI with copies of all articles written about IMMUNOLOGY2022™.
Complimentary press badges will NOT be issued to representatives from allied fields (public relations, public information, public affairs, scholarly journals, or publishers). These individuals may register online and pay the applicable registration fee.

I’m an undergraduate institution faculty member. How do I register?
Faculty AAI members at primarily undergraduate institutions may register at any time and are eligible for a reduced registration fee. Faculty nonmembers at primarily undergraduate institutions may preregister by contacting meetings@aai.org and providing a letter from the department head, provost, or dean confirming their faculty appointment.
I’m an undergraduate student. How do I register?
Undergraduate student members may register at any time and are eligible for a significantly reduced registration fee. Undergraduate student nonmembers may preregister by contacting meetings@aai.org and providing a current student ID.
I’m a young professional. How do I register?
Recent college graduates (up to 3 years postgraduation) who are not enrolled in graduate school or further undergraduate education may apply to join AAI as a Young Professional. Once a member, you will have access to the member meeting registration rates. To register as a nonmember, you must submit a letter from your employer to meetings@aai.org. This letter must include the date of graduation, institution, confirmation of employment in a lab, and position held in the lab.
When will I receive my badge?
AAI does not mail badges before the meeting. All registered attendees will receive an email with a bar code for your badge pickup. Please bring the email with you to expedite the check-in process.

Welcome Back Reception

Join us at the opening night Welcome Back Reception to celebrate the start of IMMUNOLOGY2022™! Come directly from the President’s Address to a lineup of Portland’s world-famous food trucks just outside the Convention Center, featuring cuisines for every taste. Reunite with friends, make new acquaintances, and plan your week. Delicious and different! One (1) complimentary drink ticket is included in your registration. Registered attendees only. Attendees must be 21 years of age or older to attend this event.
IMMUNOLOGY2022™ Gala
Monday, May 9, 7:00 PM – 9:30 PM
The highlight of the week, the IMMUNOLOGY2022™ Gala will be held at the Portland Art Museum. The museum features outstanding exhibits ranging from modern trends to historic art periods. Take part in interactive exhibits, view films, or gaze at classic pieces. Uniquely, Portland Art Museum recognizes and honors the indigenous communities of the region on whose ancestral lands it stands. Attendees will have access to the full museum. Food and drinks will be available, and as is the Gala’s tradition, you will have the opportunity to express yourself on the Grand Ballroom dance floor! Tickets are required and will be available for purchase during the meeting registration process. Attendees must be 21 years of age or older to attend this event.
Can I purchase event tickets for my guest/s?
The Welcome Back Reception is for registered attendees only.
You may purchase a guest ticket for the Gala for $75. These can be purchased when you register during the meeting registration process.

General Information
Where can I purchase food during IMMUNOLOGY2022™?
Concession stands will be open on the Exhibit Hall floor during Exhibit Hall hours. Additionally, there will be several food outlets open within the Convention Center.
How can I get a letter of invitation?
For security purposes, letters of invitation will be sent only to individuals who are registered for the meeting. Once your registration is complete, there will be a link in your email registration confirmation to download a letter of invitation.
I am considering bringing my family with me. Is this allowed?
Children aged 13 and older are welcome to attend IMMUNOLOGY2022™ if accompanied by a registered adult. Children under the age of 13* may not attend and are prohibited from entry into the Exhibit Hall, session rooms, or hallways in the meeting area. No children will be allowed entry into the social events.
*Babies under age 1 who are being carried or in a baby carrier (i.e., a baby sling; no car seats/strollers) may accompany their parent/guardian in the Exhibit Hall only. Babies may not be placed on the floor or left unattended.
Is there childcare available?
On-site childcare will not be provided during IMMUNOLOGY2022™. AAI is gathering a list of childcare options* for attendees to make arrangements on their own. Please return to the FAQs soon for updates or email meetings@aai.org for additional information.

May I bring a guest who is a nonscientist with me to the sessions?
Unfortunately, we do not have guest passes. All attendees must be registered to gain access to the sessions and Exhibit Hall.
Does AAI offer CME credits?
Continuing Medical Education (CME) credits are NOT offered for this meeting. AAI, however, adheres to conflict-of-interest policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education. AAI requires all speakers at AAI-sponsored meetings or programs to inform their audiences of their academic and professional affiliations and to disclose any significant monetary interests or other relationships they may have with the manufacturer(s) of any commercial product(s) discussed in their presentation. This information is required to be provided by speakers and is included in the back of the Scientific Program.
What is the dress code?
We want you to be comfortable so you can enjoy your meeting experience. Business casual dress is strongly encouraged. We suggest bringing a light sweater or jacket with you during the day because meeting rooms are air conditioned.
Will sessions be recorded?
At this time, no sessions are being recorded for on-demand use. Recording of presentations by any means is strictly prohibited. Attendees are strictly prohibited from photographing and recording (audio or video) scientific sessions, including posters. Violators will be asked to delete photographs or recordings and may risk expulsion from the meeting.
Distribution of Handouts
AAI allows the distribution of promotional materials and approved related items from Exhibitors only in their booth. No materials may be distributed outside (hotels, Convention Center lobby area, session rooms, etc.) without permission of AAI.

Beware of scams: Please do not give personal information or your credit card number to anyone who contacts you offering housing for IMMUNOLOGY2022™. Any other organization, outside of onPeak, that contacts you is NOT endorsed by or affiliated with AAI.
Are hotel discounts being offered?
Discounts are being offered through the IMMUNOLOGY2022™ website only. Please visit our Hotels page to book your hotel. If you contact the hotels directly, you will not be able to receive the AAI discount.
Discount expiration dates vary by hotel. Please visit our Hotels page to confirm when any discount expires.
Will I receive confirmation of my hotel reservation?
Yes. A confirmation of your reservation will be sent to you, via email, immediately after making your reservation. The confirmation will come from the official housing company,onPeak.
PLEASE NOTE: A final confirmation with your hotel confirmation number will be sent within 2 weeks of your arrival. The confirmation will come directly from onPeak—NOT from the hotel at which you will be staying.
Will I be refunded if I need to cancel my hotel reservation?
Cancellation fees vary hotel by hotel. Please visit our Hotels page to obtain each hotel’s refund policy. It can be found when clicking on a hotel option and then clicking on “view hotel policies” (usually under the nightly rate).
Is there shuttle service to and from IMMUNOLOGY2022™ hotels?
There is no transportation provided between the hotels and the Oregon Convention Center. Most of the IMMUNOLOGY2022™ hotels are within walking distance to the Center. MAX (Metropolitan Area Express) Light Rail service is available for those that are not within walking distance. There is a MAX Light Rail station at the Oregon Convention Center. Complimentary week-long passes for the MAX Light Rail are being provided by TravelPortland and will be in your registration materials. Please visit the MAX Light Rail website for the schedule or the How to Ride MAX page for step-by-step transit directions.
There is also the Portland Streetcar system. This system operates three lines around 16 miles of track in Portland’s Central City—different from the MAX Light Rail. (The passes provided by TravelPortland will not work on this system.) Visit the Portland Streetcar website for more information and a ride guide.
Photography
May I take photographs throughout the meeting?
Attendees are strictly prohibited from photographing and recording (audio or video) scientific sessions, including posters. Violators will be asked to delete photographs or recordings and may risk expulsion from the meeting.
PLEASE NOTE: During the poster hours, and if you have the permission of the author, you make take photographs of a poster. Authors are permitted to photograph their own posters.
Transportation
Are there any airfare discounts?
No.
How do I get from Portland International Airport to my hotel?
There are multiple options available from the airport, including the following.
Taxis Follow signs to the baggage claim on the lower level. The taxi stand is on the fourth island near the parking garage. Customer service representatives will place you with the first available taxi. All taxis accept major credit cards.
Transportation Network Companies Lyft, Uber, or Wingz serve Portland International Airport. Follow signs to the baggage claim on the lower level. If using Uber or Wingz, walk outside, and your pickup is on the side of island 2 closest to the parking garage. If you are using Lyft, walk outside, and your pickup is on the side of island 2 closest to the terminal.
Portland TriMet MAX Light Rail MAX Light Rail connects Portland International Airport with Portland City Center, Beaverton, Clackamas, Gresham, Hillsboro, Milwaukie, and North/Northeast Portland (the area where the Convention Center is located).
The MAX Light Rail service is available for those hotels that are not within walking distance of the Convention Center. Please visit the MAX Light Rail website for the schedule or the How to Ride MAX page for step-by-step transit directions.
Oregon Convention Center
Accessibility
All of the Oregon Convention Center grounds are in compliance with Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements. There are elevators, restrooms, concessions, and telephones designed to accommodate the needs of those with physical and non-physical impairments.
If you need mobility assistance to make your visit easier or more comfortable, stop by the Welcome Desk on the Lobby Level to check out a wheelchair or electric scooter. Please note that equipment is available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Business Center
There is a Self-Service Business Center located in front of the Guest Services Office on the Lobby Level across from the MLK entrance. Services include:
- Copying (b/w, 8.5 x 11 only)
- Computers with Internet access and printing (b/w and color, 8.5 x 11 only). Faxing and scanning services ARE NOT available on-site.
- Hours: Monday – Friday, 7:30 AM – 5:30 PM, and during events.
Charging Stations
Devices can be charged at charging stations located near elevators.
Convention Center Concierge
There will be a Welcome Agent desk located in the MLK Lobby. They can provide wheelchairs and scooters, manage lost and found, and can assist with general convention center questions.
First Aid and Medical Attention
The Oregon Convention Center has two (2) fully equipped first aid rooms, one located in the Exhibit Hall A Lobby and the other outside of Exhibit Hall E. An Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) is on-site. EMTs may be contacted by picking up any house phone and dialing 7575 or by alerting any convention center staff member.
Lost and Found
Lost and found items will be tagged, cataloged, and stored for thirty (30) days. After that, unclaimed items are donated. If you have lost something, call Oregon Convention Center Administration at 503-235-7575 or email lostandfound@oregoncc.org. Please provide a detailed description of the item you lost, as well as a photo if possible.
Nursing Mothers Suites
The Center offers two (2) Mamava nursing suites. These private and secure suites are located near the A and E Meeting Rooms on Level 1.The suites are ADA-compatible with comfortable seating areas and are equipped with standard AC power outlets and USB charger ports.
NOTE: All Mamava suites come with a Bluetooth SmartLock that syncs with Mamava’s mobile app. Download the app at mamava.com/mobile-app. You may also request a door code for entry from the receptionists’ desk in the Administrative Office on Level 2 or by calling 503-235-7575.
Parking
The convention center has on-site parking, 800 spaces, four electric spaces and disabled parking are available. All convention center parking is on a first-come, first-served basis and available parking is not guaranteed.
Enter the garage via NE Lloyd Boulevard entrance or NE First Avenue. Clearance on the P1 upper level is seven feet; clearance on the P2 lower level is nine feet.
Overnight parking in the garage is prohibited.
Restrooms
Accessible restroom facilities are available in the public areas, including family and gender-neutral restrooms. Some are even kind of famous for the artwork inside. You can’t miss them—all restroom areas are painted yellow!
Shipping Services
The OCC does not provide any shipping services. The nearest shipping services are available at FedEx Office Print and Ship Center, 1605 NE 7th Avenue, Portland, OR, 503-284-2129.

WiFi
Complimentary WiFi can be accessed in all lobbies. Individual pay-as-you-go WiFi service is available for $12 per day. Business Class service is available for $50 per day. Customer support is provided on-site.
